Details of specific skill No. 1To smoothly accept ready-to-work foreign personnel

“Specified Skilled Worker No. 1” is for specific industrial fields where there is a serious labor shortage.
This is a status of residence for accepting foreign personnel with a certain level of expertise and skills.
Unlike technical intern trainees, the biggest feature of these trainees is that they can play an active role in the field immediately after joining the company.
On this page, we provide professional explanations from the qualification requirements for item 1 to the support that companies should provide.

Main characteristics of specific skill No. 1

In order to obtain No. 1, a foreigner must meet one of the following conditions.

  • Acquisition route 1: Exam passing route

Pass the “skills test” and “Japanese language proficiency test (N4 or higher)” in each field.

  • Acquisition route 2: Technical intern training completion route

Must have “successfully completed” Technical Intern Training No. 2 (transfer is possible with exam exemption).
